Bennett Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, proudly hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning on 4 February 2026 to mark World Cancer Day, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event brought together staff, residents, and family members, who enjoyed a variety of cakes alongside tea and coffee in a warm and welcoming environment. Residents played an active role in the preparations by baking cakes for the event, creating a sense of involvement and shared purpose.
Feedback from the community was very positive, with one comment stating:
“What a lovely idea. It’s nice to see a care home doing things for charity.”
The idea for the event came from reflecting on successful fundraising activities held in previous years, alongside discussions with family members who have benefitted from Macmillan’s support.
The atmosphere throughout the day was lively and social, filled with conversation and shared moments. A particular highlight was when family members shared their personal stories about receiving support from Macmillan, reinforcing the importance of the charity’s work.
