Residents of Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a memorable outing to the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham on 14th January. The minibus trip provided a day filled with exploration, education, and joy as residents marvelled at the fascinating marine exhibits.
Resident Ann shared her excitement: “I really loved the trip and really enjoyed it. Seeing different sea creatures made me truly appreciate the experience.”
Family members were equally thrilled with the impact of the outing. Lynn, a relative of one resident, said, “From the smiles, you can see how much everyone enjoyed their trip.”
The idea for the trip emerged from resident meetings, where their suggestions for outings were encouraged and valued. The Sea Life Centre was a popular choice, offering an engaging and interactive experience outside the usual daily routine.
Upon arrival, residents eagerly explored the vibrant marine exhibits, learning about diverse sea creatures while sharing the experience with one another and the dedicated care staff. The highlight of the day came as the group entered the iconic underwater tunnel, surrounded by aquatic life swimming overhead. “It felt like we were truly underwater,” one resident remarked, reflecting on the awe-inspiring moment.
The staff played an integral role in ensuring the day’s success, not only by ensuring comfort and safety but by actively participating in the adventure. Their camaraderie with the residents strengthened bonds and added to the sense of community.
The atmosphere throughout the day was lively and cheerful, filled with laughter, curiosity, and shared wonder. Trips like this highlight Chelmunds Court’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of their residents by providing opportunities for exploration, connection, and joy.
