Residents from Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were treated to a unique and uplifting festive experience on 12 December 2025, following a special visit to St. Andrew’s Church, where they were invited to enjoy traditional Christmas bell ringing and learn more about this much-loved seasonal tradition.

The visit was kindly hosted by Shirley and Frances from St. Andrew’s Church, who welcomed residents and staff into the church for an engaging and informative afternoon. Residents listened to a selection of Christmas tunes performed by the bell ringers, with short explanations given before each piece about the bells, how they work, their history, and the different techniques used to create distinctive sounds.

The event provided residents with the opportunity to experience something meaningful within the local community, encouraging connection, learning, and festive enjoyment while strengthening the relationship between Chelmunds Court and the church.

Shirley and Frances from St. Andrew’s Church commented:
“We always enjoy having the residents visit and being able to share the holiday season through our bell ringing. It was a wonderful event, especially seeing the residents singing and humming along while enjoying the music.”

Residents and staff described the atmosphere as warm, welcoming, and peaceful, with the sound of the bells filling the church and creating a joyful festive setting. A standout moment came when residents began singing along to familiar Christmas tunes, adding to the sense of togetherness and seasonal cheer.

Chelmunds Court would like to thank Shirley, Frances, the bell ringers, and all the volunteers at St. Andrew’s Church for their generosity and hospitality in making the visit such a memorable experience. The care home looks forward to continuing to build strong community connections through events like this.
