Residents from Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a delightful morning out in the community on 30 January 2026, with a visit to a local garden centre that offered fresh air, friendly conversation and a relaxing change of scenery.
The group set off at 10:30am, enjoying golden oldies music during the journey before spending a couple of hours browsing the garden centre’s clothing and plant displays. Residents took their time exploring, choosing items they liked before heading to the restaurant to enjoy freshly baked scones and a cup of tea together.
Residents also shared positive feedback from the day, with one resident commenting that she loved spending the morning out in the community and that the experience made her feel “really special.”
The outing provided valuable opportunities for social interaction, not only among residents but also with members of the public, helping to build confidence and connection within the wider community. The trip encouraged new friendships, with residents chatting throughout and learning more about one another.
The idea for the visit came from the residents at Chelmunds Court themselves, who were keen to select flowers ready to plant for the spring season. The warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the trip made it a lovely experience.
