Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a wonderful interactive visit from Scales and Tails, bringing animals from around the world directly into the home for a hands-on experience filled with smiles, cuddles, and curiosity.
The session allowed residents to meet, touch, and learn about a variety of animals, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and spend extra time with their favourites. From furry friends like rabbits and ferrets to fascinating “creepy crawlies,” the event created meaningful moments for everyone involved.
Residents shared how much the visit meant to them, saying it was lovely to see and cuddle the animals and that experiences like this truly make them happy.
All residents were invited to take part, alongside staff and even visiting family members, as everyone loves getting involved. The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was warm and supportive, with residents encouraging one another to be brave and hold the animals. Many bonded over overcoming fears, taking turns to cuddle the rabbits and ferrets, and proudly holding the smaller creatures.
One particularly special highlight was seeing a new gentleman at the home experience the animals for the very first time. He absolutely loved the session, eagerly asking lots of questions and already looking forward to their next visit.
Events like these form part of Chelmunds Court ongoing commitment to enriching residents’ lives, promoting wellbeing, and creating shared experiences that spark connection.
