Residents from Evelyn May House, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed an afternoon at a dementia-friendly cinema screening at Chelmsford Theatre on 24 February 2026.
The group attended a special dementia-friendly showing of Grease, giving residents the opportunity to experience the magic of the big screen in a relaxed and supportive environment. The outing was organised after the theatre advertised the event online, with the team eager to provide residents with meaningful experiences in the wider community.
Before the film began, residents enjoyed tea and cake together, with additional refreshments provided during the screening. Guests were encouraged to sing along, and the Evelyn May House group certainly embraced the opportunity, filling the cinema with laughter and song as they joined in with their favourite musical moments.
The trip was enjoyed by both residents and staff, creating shared memories and plenty of conversation on the journey home.
One of the standout highlights of the afternoon came as residents fondly reminisced about John Travolta, with many commenting on how handsome he was and recalling their past crushes, sparking laughter and nostalgic storytelling among the group.
