Join Waterfield House for Knit and Natter – A Twice-Monthly Gathering at Waterfield House!

Waterfield House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group is excited to announce the launch of a new knitting group designed for both residents and the local community to come together and enjoy knitting, conversation, and camaraderie. The first session of the “Knit and Natter” group took place on Wednesday, 8th January, and will continue to meet every other Wednesday at 2:00 PM.

This group is an opportunity for people to gather, share their love of knitting, and learn new skills. Participants, including residents, staff, and families, knit together to create various projects. While some attendees are learning how to knit with guidance from our experienced residents, others use our knitting machine or try their hand at making pom-poms. The group is led by volunteer Trudi Crowfoot, a residents family member, who helps to coordinate the sessions.

The sessions are not only about knitting but also serve as a wonderful way to connect with others, build friendships, and provide a creative outlet. Additionally, the group aspires to create useful items, such as blankets and hats, for charitable organisations. Any items made will also be available for sale within the home, with proceeds going toward supporting the Guide Dogs charity.

“The ladies and some gentlemen enjoy knitting at Waterfield House. I wanted to support Mum’s home and enjoy visiting her while talking to the other residents and staff. It seemed like a good idea to start a twice-weekly club where we could catch up on how the knitting is going and share everyone’s news.” – Trudi Crowfoot, Volunteer

“We would like to invite any members of the community to join us every other Wednesday to ‘Knit and Natter’ at Waterfield House at 2 PM. For more information or to reserve your place, please call 01473 829103.” – Yvonne Elms, Lifestyle Coordinator

Waterfield House is a welcoming and supportive environment for residents, families, and staff alike, offering a variety of activities that promote social connection, creativity, and well-being. The Knit and Natter sessions are just one of many initiatives to foster community spirit and support local causes.
