Liberty House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, will be celebrating International Dogs Day this August with a special fundraising initiative inspired by one of its residents. Margaret G, a lifelong dog lover, teamed up with Lifestyle Coordinator Jody Hughes to collect donations for local dog charities throughout the month.
Jody Hughes explained, “Margaret loves animals so much, so I came up with the idea to do a fundraising drive for a cause I knew she would be passionate about. When I asked her, she was really happy and said, ‘I’m absolutely in.’”
The initiative encourages donations of food, biscuits, blankets, and other dog-related items to support local charities. Margaret herself helped decorate the donation box and has been actively involved in preparing the contributions for delivery.
Margaret shared her excitement about the project, saying, “I would do anything for animals, especially dogs. I have always had dogs, and I really enjoy when they come to visit us at Chelmunds Court.”
The fundraising not only brings joy to Margaret but also fosters a sense of community and purpose among residents, highlighting the home’s commitment to engaging residents in activities they love while giving back to the local area.
The collected donations will be delivered to local dog charities, ensuring the efforts of residents make a tangible difference in the lives of animals in need.
Liberty House continues to create meaningful experiences that combine residents’ passions with opportunities to support the wider community, proving that even the smallest initiatives can have a big impact.
