As children across the community head back to school, residents at Liberty House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, took the opportunity to share some words of wisdom.
Lifestyle Coordinator Kelley visited residents with a whiteboard and asked them the question: “My advice to children starting back at school this week is…?” The residents came up with some fantastic advice.
Resident of Liberty House, Felicity, who was previously a teacher, shared: “I used to be a teacher and one of the best bits of advice I can give to pupils is to try and be prompt to lessons.”
Doreen, a resident at Liberty House, highlighted the importance of keeping up with schoolwork, saying: “My best advice for children returning to school is make sure you do your homework. It is a very important thing to do as this helps towards their exams.”
Theju, who works at Liberty House, also had some valuable advice for pupils, saying: “One of the main things for pupils to remember is to always respect your teachers. They all work very hard.”
Activities like these provide a wonderful opportunity to value and celebrate our residents’ voices and experience.
