Residents at Maun View Care Home part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of gardening as they came together to plant colourful pansies and brighten up the home’s outdoor patios.

On 20th April 2026, residents joined the wellbeing team for a hands-on planting activity that saw planters, soil, and vibrant pansy flowers carefully arranged to create beautiful displays for everyone to enjoy. Once planted, the finished pots were placed around the patios, adding a cheerful splash of colour for residents, visitors, and staff to admire.

The activity was especially meaningful for residents who had enjoyed gardening in earlier years, giving them the opportunity to reconnect with a much-loved hobby while spending time together outdoors.

Lucy, Lifestyle Coordinator at Maun View Care Home, said: “It was a lovely activity to put on for our residents, especially our residents who loved gardening in their earlier years. We always incorporate residents’ ideas and interests into our weekly planners. Our activities are 100% centred around what the residents want to do within the home.”

The idea for the planting session came directly from a recent resident meeting, where gardening was suggested as an activity residents would like to take part in. Ensuring residents have a voice in shaping the home’s activity programme is a key part of life at Maun View Care Home, with wellbeing and personal interests always at the forefront.

The highlight of the afternoon was seeing residents enjoying themselves and taking pride in the finished planters, which now provide a lasting reminder of the shared effort and creativity involved.
