Residents and staff at Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently embraced the past with a vibrant Retro Day, celebrating decades of fashion, music, and nostalgia. The event, held on 27th February 2025, was a resounding success, creating joyful moments and sparking cherished memories.
Residents and staff dressed up in their favourite vintage outfits, reflecting styles from the 1950s to the 1970s. From glamorous 50s attire to disco-inspired 70s fashion, the home was filled with colour and energy. The day was packed with themed activities, classic music, and delicious food that took everyone on a trip down memory lane.
As part of the celebration, a group of residents took a special trip on the Park View minibus to visit The Bungalow Diner in Marks Tey, an authentic retro café. The visit brought back fond memories, with residents enjoying milkshakes, burgers, and a lively atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era.
One resident, Jean, expressed her delight at the experience, saying, “What a wonderful fun day we had! It was nice to go out on the bus again.”
The event was planned in line with Park View’s new activity planner, ensuring residents have engaging and meaningful experiences. The Lifestyle Coordinator highlighted the importance of such events, stating, “We love celebrating these special days with our residents and staff. Seeing everyone dressed up, reminiscing about their favourite eras, and enjoying the music was truly heartwarming.”
The day’s standout moments included residents sharing memories of their favourite outfits and music from their youth, sparking lively conversations and laughter throughout the home.
With its mix of fun, nostalgia, and community spirit, Retro Day at Park View Care Home was a fantastic success, and residents are already looking forward to the next themed event!
