Rowena House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is proud to celebrate a significant milestone in its ongoing partnership with the local primary school, as Debbie, Wellbeing Lead at Rowena House, has been invited to join the school’s Board of Governors in a community link role.
This invitation recognises the strong, meaningful relationship that Debbie has helped to build between the school, its pupils, and the residents of Rowena House. Through regular visits and shared events, genuine friendships have formed, enriching the lives of both generations.
Residents most recently visited the school on 16 December 2025 to take part in a Remembrance Day event, further highlighting the importance of intergenerational connections. Over time, the relationship has grown through many shared activities, including Mother’s Day celebrations, Thankful Fridays, craft sessions where children create gifts for residents, and a recent Breakfast with Santa, where Rowena House residents were guests of honour.
The atmosphere during these events has been one of pride, joy, and gratitude, reflecting the positive impact of strong community ties. The children and residents alike benefit from the bond they share, creating moments of connection, learning, and happiness.
Vickie, Home Manager at Rowena House, commented:
“Debbie is very well loved within the school community and by the children. She has built an incredible relationship that truly represents the values of Rowena House. Seeing the joy and pride this partnership brings to everyone involved is wonderful.”
The school community has also expressed how valued Debbie is, recognising her commitment and the warmth she brings to every interaction.
Rowena House remains committed to maintaining and strengthening community links, ensuring residents continue to play an active and valued role within the wider community. Debbie’s appointment to the Board of Governors is a testament to the success of this partnership and the positive difference it makes to all involved.
