On Wednesday 15th October, residents from Stafford Hall Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, had a joyful day out at Green Barn Farm in Benfleet, a lovely experience filled with furry friends, fresh air, and fun.
Thanks to the thoughtful planning of Antonia, Lifestyle Coordinator, and a recommendation from Vicky, Stafford Hall’s Administrator, the farm made a special exception to open its doors exclusively for the residents. The team at Green Barn Farm offered a warm welcome and a guided tour of the grounds, where residents met cows, pigs, sheep, and adorable small animals such as guinea pigs and baby rabbits.
The residents, alongside the staff members of Stafford Hall, spent a peaceful afternoon surrounded by animals, followed by a delicious lunch on-site. The residents were so happy with the day out, with many commenting on the success of the day:
“I had such a wonderful trip out — I can’t wait to go again,” said Rose, one of the residents.
“I didn’t want to leave! I wanted to stay with the baby rabbits,” added Roz.
“It was lovely, especially the guinea pigs,” said Elsie.
Before heading home, residents were given pumpkins to take back to Stafford Hall after exploring the farm’s seasonal Halloween display.
These kinds of outings play an important role in supporting wellbeing at Stafford Hall, offering residents meaningful moments of connection with animals, nature, and one another. The event not only created beautiful memories but also helped reduce stress and sparked conversations and laughter that continued well after returning home.
The entire Stafford Hall team extends thanks to the staff at Green Barn Farm for their generosity and care in making the visit such a success. Stafford Hall looks forward to continuing these events and activities to promote wellbeing throughout the home.
