Residents and team members at The Mill House Care Home part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together for a truly special celebration on 9 June as much-loved resident Muriel marked her remarkable 100th birthday.
To honour this incredible milestone, the home’s living room was transformed with colourful balloons, banners and handmade decorations created by residents in the days leading up to the celebration. Together, everyone crafted festive bunting and a giant birthday card to make the occasion extra special.
The celebrations centred around a beautiful pink birthday cake, where residents and staff gathered to sing “Happy Birthday”, share memories and read heartfelt cards from family and friends. One of the most treasured moments of the day was reading Muriel’s birthday message from His Majesty The King, alongside presenting her with a stunning bouquet of flowers.
Guests described the occasion as magical, reflective and calm, creating a truly special atmosphere that celebrated not only Muriel’s milestone birthday but the wonderful life she has lived.
Residents shared their delight throughout the celebration, with comments including, “Wow, one hundred – now that is impressive!” and “Happy Birthday, Muriel, have you got your letter from the King?”
The celebration reflected the strong sense of community at The Mill House, with residents and colleagues working together to create a day filled with warmth and friendship.
