Timeless Tea: A Heartwarming Initiative by Kathryn Court

On the 23rd February 2024 – Kathryn Court care home in Shoeburyness, is delighted to announce the launch of “Timeless Tea,” a community-led social hub dedicated to providing support and a crucial social outlet. The opening event brought together a diverse group of individuals committed to making a positive impact.

Timeless Tea is designed as a recurring gathering for members of the community to come together and offer support to those caring for or living with someone with dementia. The event provides a relaxed setting for socializing, sharing experiences, and fostering companionship away from the everyday stresses of life.

The launch event featured a guest speaker and offered attendees the opportunity to enjoy tea, coffee, and cakes. Participants included families with loved ones in the home, the Director of Dementia Care, the Associate Director of Wellbeing and Dementia Services, a Social Prescribing Link Worker, the CIS Carers Intensive Support Team, the Dementia Navigator from Southend Borough Council, local Parish Nurses, the Home’s District Nurses team, the Dentistry Team from Dental Beauty, and the PCN from Norton Place Shoeburyness.

The significance of Timeless Tea is to establish new connections within the community, fostering goodwill and a positive atmosphere. Residents who participate will be actively involved in the events, providing them with a sense of inclusion, purpose, and achievement.

Karen Chaitoo, Home Manager said “On Friday, 23rd February 2024, Kathryn Court, the award-winning care home in Shoeburyness, had the great pleasure of launching ‘Timeless Tea’ – the new community-led social hub specifically designed to provide support and a vital social outlet for those experiencing the effects of dementia. Dementia takes a great toll on both sufferers and their families, and this new monthly event has been organized by industry professionals to give advice and to help relieve the feeling of isolation that can often be experienced. It offers a welcoming, safe, and friendly environment for a chat whilst sharing afternoon tea and cake with others.”

Timeless Tea demonstrates Kathryn Court’s commitment to the well-being of its residents and the community at large. This initiative reflects the ongoing dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for those affected by dementia.
