A dedicated care home manager from Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is preparing to climb Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain, in support of dementia research.

Having already completed a successful climb of Snowdon on 2 May as part of her preparation, she will take on the challenge of Ben Nevis on 7 June to raise awareness and vital funds for dementia research.

As a manager working within a dementia care setting, she witnesses firsthand the impact dementia has not only on those living with the condition, but also on their loved ones and wider communities.

Speaking about the challenge, she said:

“I’m proud to be taking on this huge personal challenge to help raise money for dementia research. Working in dementia care, I see every day the reality of this condition and the effect it has on families, friends, and entire communities.

This climb is my way of turning that experience into action. Every step up that mountain is for the people I care for, the families who support them, and everyone affected by dementia.”

The fundraising effort aims to support ongoing research that brings hope for improved treatments, better care, and ultimately a brighter future for those affected by dementia.

The local community is being encouraged to support the challenge by donating, sharing the fundraiser, or simply cheering her on as she prepares for the climb.

“Together, we can help support the research that brings hope for a better future,” she added.
