Sandra, a spirited 73-year-old resident of Oldfield House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently experienced the thrill of a lifetime by fulfilling her dream of riding a rollercoaster once more. After months of meticulous planning, Sandra’s wish was fulfilled with an exhilarating trip to Flamingo Land on Monday, 8th July.
Sandra, accompanied by her carer Chelsea and Home Manager Leeanne Craddock, embarked on this exciting adventure with immense anticipation. Sandra, a rollercoaster enthusiast who has been riding them all her life, expressed her wish to experience the thrill once more. The staff at Oldfield House were determined to make this dream come true, and their efforts resulted to an unforgettable day.
The highlight of the trip was Sandra’s ride on The Hero rollercoaster. From the moment she strapped in, Sandra’s face lit up with joy. Her excitement was undeniable, and she spent the entire ride smiling from ear to ear, reliving the adrenaline rush that she loves so much.
Leeanne Craddock, Home Manager at Oldfield House, shared her thoughts on this special day: “We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make Sandra’s dream of riding a rollercoaster again a reality. At 73 years old, she didn’t think it possible, but after months of organising, we managed to make her wish come true. We would like to say a massive thank you to Flamingo Land who supported us in making this wish come true and in supplying us with fast-track passes so that Sandra was able to skip the queues and have a stress-free experience.”
This remarkable day not only brought immense joy to Sandra but also highlighted the dedication of the Oldfield House team to enriching the lives of their residents. The adventure at Flamingo Land is a testament to the care home’s commitment to making dreams come true, regardless of age.
The entire Oldfield House community is thrilled to have been part of Sandra’s special day and looks forward to creating more memorable experiences for all its residents in the future.
