Orchard Blythe care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently hosted a delightful day trip to Weston-super-Mare on the 30th of August, offering residents and staff a refreshing escape by the sea. This thoughtfully organised outing was designed to create lasting memories and strengthen community bonds among participants. The trip proved to be an overwhelming success, bringing joy and camaraderie to all involved.
The day began with a scenic bus trip to Weston-super-Mare, where the group quickly immersed themselves in the beach’s charm. They enjoyed a picnic on the sand, which set the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable day. Following the picnic, they took a leisurely walk along the picturesque promenade, taking in the coastal views and stopping at various points of interest.
Among the highlights was a visit to the iconic Weston-super-Mare pier, where residents had the chance to sip coffee while watching children play in the sea. The quintessential British experience continued with a stop for fish and chips. The day wrapped up with a pleasant stroll back to the bus, during which everyone admired the grand Ferris wheel and friendly donkeys that are a staple of the seafront.
The trip included staff and nine residents. This outing allowed everyone to savour the simple pleasures of a beach day, reconnect with nature, and create cherished memories together.
Michelle, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Orchard Blythe care home, remarked, “It was such a wonderful day, and to see how much the residents enjoyed it was priceless.”
Resident Pat added, “What a fantastic day we all had! When can we go again?”
This memorable outing underscores the importance of providing enriching experiences for residents and highlights the joy and camaraderie that can be nurtured through such community-focused events.
