A group of residents from Four Acres care home took a delightful trip to Badger Nurseries, a garden centre in Studley, enjoying a morning surrounded by the colours and fragrances of nature. The visit, organised by Kayleigh from the Lifestyle Team, was a welcomed opportunity to get out into the community and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the local garden centre.
On the morning of the 16th of January, the four residents, accompanied by Kayleigh, made their way to the garden centre, eager to explore the selection of flowers and plants. The outing provided a much-needed break from routine and allowed residents to reconnect with nature, a favourite pastime for many.
“We really enjoyed this morning, it was nice to get out in the fresh air,” said one resident, reflecting on the joy the trip brought. The residents wandered the garden centre, marvelling at the early blooms, which served as a hopeful reminder that Spring is just around the corner.
The trip was suggested by the residents themselves when Kayleigh asked for their input on where they’d like to go during the minibus outing. Their choice of the local garden centre proved to be an excellent one, offering both an enjoyable experience and a chance to engage with the local community. After taking in the beauty of the flowers, the group relaxed with a comforting hot drink before heading back to Four Acres for a warm lunch.
“The atmosphere was lovely,” Kayleigh shared. “The residents were so happy to be out and about. It’s these small outings that make such a difference in their day-to-day lives, and it’s wonderful to see the smiles they bring back with them.”
Among the many memorable moments of the day, one resident stood out by sharing, “It was nice to get out,” a simple yet profound statement that highlighted the importance of social and outdoor activities for overall well-being.
This trip to Badger Nurseries is just one of many community outings planned by the Four Acres Lifestyle Team, who continually strive to provide meaningful experiences for residents. These excursions promote not only physical activity but also emotional well-being by allowing residents to remain connected with the world outside their care home.
The visit to Badger Nurseries was an important reminder of the joy that simple pleasures, such as spending time outdoors, can bring to residents. The Lifestyle Team’s dedication to enriching the lives of Four Acres residents ensures that these trips, as well as many others, will continue to offer opportunities for social engagement, personal enjoyment, and overall happiness.
