Residents at Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a delicious treat on 9th February, as they joined in the celebrations for National Pizza Day. Thanks to a generous donation from the local Domino’s Pizza shop, residents were able to indulge in a variety of pizzas and experience the joy of trying something new.
Lifestyle Coordinator Diane, who helped organise the event, described the day as a wonderful experience. “We try to celebrate all the events that appear throughout the year and incorporate different food activities. It’s nice to give the residents a change and allow them to try different things,” she said.
For some residents, the event marked a brand-new culinary experience. One resident, Jo, shared their excitement, saying, “I have never had pizza before, but hope we can have it on our menu from now on. It was delicious!”
The atmosphere at Park View was lively as residents sang the ‘Pizza Song’ and rated their favourite toppings. The event not only provided a fun-filled day but also highlighted the importance of community engagement and celebrating special occasions together.
“It’s important for us to work with the community and mark all the special days throughout the year,” Anderson added. “Seeing the residents try different foods and enjoy the taste of something new was a highlight for us all. In fact, we will be adding pizza to our menu now!”
The event was a resounding success, bringing joy, laughter, and a newfound love for pizza among the residents. Park View Care Home looks forward to continuing its tradition of celebrating special days and creating memorable experiences for everyone involved.
