Residents and staff members of Redbond Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, joined their local community at Gt Dunmow’s Recreation Ground for a vibrant Emergency Services Fun Day organised by the Gt Dunmow Town Council.
The group was warmly welcomed by local Emergency Services personnel and the town’s own Town Crier, Jody Huizar.
The event offered a wealth of attractions: football games, bouncy castles, face painting, and interactive stalls from the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance, Lifeboat Service, Healthwatch Essex, Keep Fit Services, Army and Air Cadets, and the Fire Rescue Dog Service. Families, children, and even dogs joined in the fun, creating a warm and festive atmosphere in celebration of the vital work of our emergency forces. The day was filled with activities and lively conversations, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Visitors had the chance to try their hand at “Splat the Rat,” run by Healthwatch Essex, meet members of the Lifeboat Service and Ambulance Service, and pose for a cheeky photo with the Fire Service. Ray, a dedicated Tottenham Hotspur fan, enjoyed a great chat with the organiser about legendary players from years gone by. The group also spoke with the trainer from the Fire Rescue Dog Service and spent time mingling with other residents and stallholders.
The idea for attending came about after the Town Council’s event popped up on Facebook. For the residents, it was more than just a day out; it was an opportunity to connect with the local community and celebrate those who keep it safe.
