Residents at Heron Court Care Home, part of Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a week filled with colour and creativity during the first week of August, as part of a special Free Artistic Expression activity.
The garden was transformed into an open-air studio where residents explored painting in a variety of techniques, supported by carers and staff. The atmosphere was relaxing and full of artistic expression.
Ariel Da Costa, Lifestyle Coordinator at Heron Court Care Home, said:
“I feel like when I was a child, art is whatever you do with your heart.”
The event, inspired by an upcoming exhibition in Harlow next month, highlighted the importance of creativity in care settings. Ariel added:
“It’s important because it helps us connect with our residents through artistic expression.”
With many residents and carers taking part, the activity showcased not only the talents of those involved but also the therapeutic and social benefits of engaging with art in a supportive environment.
