Residents at Carolyne House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently made a very special wish come true for one of its residents, proving that it’s never too late to relive joyful moments from the past.
Staff, residents, and relatives took a trip to Canvey Island, where one resident’s wish to ride a rollercoaster again became a reality. After enjoying a lovely lunch under the sunny skies, the group explored the local fairground. The resident selected her ride of choice and her face lit up with excitement. Not only did she enjoy the rollercoaster, but the experience was so exhilarating, she went on to try a few more!
Charlotte, Lifestyle Coordinator at Carolyne House, shared, “The experience was so much fun. We made her wish come true and it was a joy to witness her laughter echoing all around while on the ride.”
The initiative is part of Carolyne House’s ongoing commitment to celebrating the individuality of each resident. Monthly meetings encourage residents to share their personal wishes and dream experiences, no matter how big or small.
“We all have things we wished we’d done, but sometimes feel it’s too late,” Charlotte added. “This trip proved otherwise. Surrounded by her family and friends, our resident had the chance to do something she truly loved.”
The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with excitement, fun, and plenty of sunshine—making it a standout memory not just for the residents, but for the relatives and staff of Carolyne House.
