Residents and families from Crowstone House, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a wonderful day out on Wednesday, 8th October 2025, as they took a refreshing trip to Southchurch Park to reconnect with nature, share stories, and make happy memories.
The visit was filled with joyful moments as residents strolled through the park, admiring the colourful trees, feeding ducks by the river, and watching squirrels and dogs at play. The peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty offered a perfect setting for laughter, reflection, and bonding.
After their walk, everyone gathered at the park café for a relaxed lunch of traditional fish and chips, accompanied by hot drinks and warm conversation. The outing brought smiles to all involved and proved once again how meaningful these small, yet powerful experiences can be.
Maria Wownysz, Home Manager at Crowstone House, shared:
“Our residents truly enjoy staying close to nature, and their recent visit to the local park brought smiles all around. They took a relaxing walk along the river, fed the ducks and other birds, and admired the beautiful, colourful trees—marvelling at how the park changes with each season. Whether it’s summer or autumn, the joy of being outdoors always lifts their spirits.”
Residents shared their own reflections on the day:
Ray said, “I like having a nice walk in the park, the fresh air, the beautiful nature around, and I love feeding the ducks.”
Mary added, “I enjoy visiting this park in different seasons and watching how nature changes. I like the sunshine, but I also don’t mind the cold or windy weather. I love taking long walks along the lovely river and there is always lots of dogs to stroke.”
James smiled and reflected, “It’s very romantic here. It reminds me of when I used to feed the ducks with my wife and children when they were small. It is such a nice memory.”
The idea for the trip came directly from the residents, who fondly recalled past visits and expressed a wish to return. For many, outings like this stir warm memories of time spent with loved ones, a sentiment that makes every visit even more special.
Crowstone House continues to champion resident wellbeing by offering enriching activities and meaningful experiences that celebrate the joy of life, community, and connection.
