Residents from Redbond Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed an unforgettable outing with a guided tour of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, making a dream come true for avid football fans.
For residents Ray and Eddie, both lifelong Tottenham supporters, the trip was particularly special. Ray, born in Tottenham, has followed the club since childhood and was full of smiles throughout the journey. Eddie, navigating the tour on his scooter, was awestruck by the grandeur of the stadium. Even Cyril, a lifelong footballer and Manchester United supporter, was amazed by the scale of the venue.
During the tour, the group explored all corners of the stadium, including the shop, trophy displays, home and away changing rooms, gym, press areas, stands, and the pitch. Walking down the tunnel was an emotional highlight, allowing residents to imagine the roar of the crowd on match day. Karen Briggs shared:
“The staff were fantastic and supported us throughout the visit. This stadium is amazing. Eddie couldn’t believe the size and technology in every part of the building. Even for those who aren’t Spurs fans, the architecture and design are simply breathtaking.”
Residents were particularly impressed by the stadium’s scale and modern facilities. Cyril remarked on the sheer size of the seating and changing rooms compared to his footballing days in a village cow shed. Ray said he “couldn’t believe he was there,” and Eddie described the stadium as “out of this world.” 
The day concluded with a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity with Tottenham legend Gary Mabbutt, MBE, who guided the special Legend Tour — a perfect highlight to an already extraordinary day.
