Originally from Barnsley, Kathleen served in the British Army during the Second World War as part of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS). She played a crucial role maintaining Army vehicles, ensuring smooth operations during a critical time in history. Following her service, Kathleen returned to South Yorkshire and worked in education, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Now at 100, Kathleen remains as devoted and inspiring as ever, demonstrating resilience, duty, and community spirit. She continues to support the Poppy Appeal and the Royal British Legion, embodying the very best of service and compassion.

Clare Smith, Lifestyle Coordinator at Low Furlong, said:
“100 years young and still serving the community. From her time in the ATS during WW2 to her continued support for the Poppy Appeal and the Royal British Legion, she’s a true example of courage and devotion. Such an honour to care for her at Low Furlong.”

Kathleen’s remarkable life and unwavering dedication are a testament to her enduring spirit, and Low Furlong is proud to celebrate her extraordinary milestone.
