Leatherland Lodge care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently hosted a delightful tea party to celebrate National Hot Tea Day, bringing together residents, staff, friends, and family for an afternoon of relaxation, connection, and shared enjoyment.
The event took place on Monday 9 January 2026 and was organised by Jeanette Chambers, Lifestyle Coordinator at Leatherland Lodge. The celebration featured a variety of teas for residents to sample, accompanied by a fun and engaging “Guess the Tea” quiz. Classical music played softly in the background, creating a calm yet uplifting atmosphere that encouraged conversation and reminiscence.
Residents enjoyed tasting different teas while chatting with friends and family, with many reminiscing about past holidays and life experiences. The quiz added a light-hearted competitive element, prompting plenty of laughter and teamwork as residents worked together to identify the teas they were drinking.
The tea party was designed to encourage engagement, strengthen relationships, and reinforce connections between residents and their loved ones.
Residents shared that they had a lovely time listening to the classical music, tasting the different teas, and completing the quiz alongside their friends and family. One of the standout moments was seeing residents laughing and chatting together as they enthusiastically tried to guess each tea.
The idea for the event was inspired by the NAPA website, which provides ideas for celebrating special occasions throughout the year. The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was described as calm and relaxed, yet energetic, with stimulating conversation and friendly competition flowing naturally.
Events like this tea party play an important role in promoting wellbeing at Leatherland Lodge, supporting social interaction, and fostering a strong sense of community among residents and their families.
