Resident’s Country-Themed Wish Granted at Low Furlong Care Home

lOW fURLONG

Runwood Homes’ Low Furlong Care Home recently brought one resident’s heartfelt wish to life with a country-themed gin and tonic party.

Mary, a resident at Low Furlong, shared that her wish for 2026 was to host a country-themed gin-and-tonic party. Taking her idea to heart, the team organised a special “Wish Granted” event tailored entirely to her preferences, ensuring a meaningful, personalised experience for her and fellow residents.

The home was transformed with themed decorations, creating the perfect country atmosphere. The afternoon was brought to life by a talented country singer and line dancers from the local community, who entertained residents and encouraged everyone to join in.

Mary’s family attended the celebration, alongside other residents, staff, community line dancers and the country singer, making it a truly inclusive and heartwarming occasion.

A standout moment of the day was seeing Mary’s delight as her wish came true, and watching residents confidently join in the dancing and music.

Michelle, a dancer from the community, said, “It was so lovely to be a part of her special day and to make her wish come true”

The event highlights Low Furlong’s continued commitment to person-centred care. By listening to residents and making their wishes a reality, the team supports wellbeing, encourages social interaction and ensures individuals feel valued, heard and included.

At Low Furlong, creating meaningful experiences remains at the heart of daily life, proving that it is often the personal touches that make the biggest difference.
