Residents and team members at Brewster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together for a heartwarming St George’s Day celebration.
To mark the occasion, the home welcomed local singer Debbie for a special singalong afternoon, where residents enjoyed a selection of wartime classics and traditional pub songs that transported everyone back in time. The event was organised by the Lifestyle Team following requests from residents during a chat session last year, where many shared how much they wanted to celebrate St George’s Day with a good old-fashioned singalong, just like they used to.
The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was joyful, patriotic, and full of community spirit, with residents smiling, singing along, and enjoying every moment together.
Leoni, Lifestyle Coordinator at Brewster House, said:
“We had a fantastic afternoon being transported back in time with some beautiful wartime classics and pub songs to celebrate St George’s Day. Seeing everyone enjoy themselves was brilliant.”
Resident Shirley also shared her thoughts, saying:
“It felt very patriotic and made me feel proud to be a part of the afternoon.”
Singer Debbie added:
“I had a great time and I’m looking forward to my next visit.”
The celebration was a wonderful way to keep traditions going, bring people together, and create meaningful moments for residents. One of the standout highlights of the day was seeing residents smiling, singing, and fully enjoying the afternoon’s entertainment.
Events like these continue to play an important role at Brewster House, helping residents stay connected to treasured traditions while creating new happy moments together.
