Residents, families, and staff at Oldfield House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together for a joyful VE Day celebration filled with music, dancing, and togetherness on 7 May 2026.
The home welcomed singer Chris Barton, who entertained guests with a lively performance that had residents and their loved ones singing along and dancing throughout the event.
The celebration was organised through a joint effort between the team at Oldfield House and residents’ family members, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere for everyone involved.
Rozalia, Lifestyle Coordinator at Oldfield House, said:
“ Our VE Day celebration was filled with the sound of music, dancing feet and the warmth of family coming together. For many of our residents living with dementia, seeing their families laugh, dance and sing side by side created a special atmosphere, reminding us all of the power of connection and togetherness.”
Family members and visitors praised the event, with one relative commenting:
“When you party at Oldfield House, dancing shoes are a must.”
Another visitor added:
“Lovely to see everyone up and dancing.”
The event highlighted the importance of meaningful social experiences and shared moments for residents, particularly those living with dementia, while also giving families an opportunity to celebrate together.
