There is great excitement at Eastham Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, this week as special t-shirts have arrived ahead of resident Harry’s incredible wing walk challenge taking place next Saturday.

At 98 years old, Harry is preparing to take on a wing walk to fulfil a lifelong dream while raising money for Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund, a cause that means so much to him after sadly losing both his wife and son to cancer. He is attempting a world record, being the oldest person to take on a wing walk.

Just a year ago, Harry’s mobility had declined significantly, and he needed support with everyday tasks after moving into Eastham Care Home . But through determination, hard work, and support from physiotherapist Reef at Reeflex Mind and Motion, Harry has rebuilt his strength and confidence, progressing to walking upstairs independently once again.

Harry’s journey has also been supported every step of the way by the team at Eastham Care Home , including Home Manager Karolyn, Deputy Manager Amber, and Lifestyle Lead Sam, whose encouragement has helped make this challenge possible.

Harry, who served in Germany after the war and comes from a family with a proud wartime history, is now preparing for this adventure nearly a century later.

The team at Eastham Care Home said:

“We are all so proud of Harry. His determination inspires everyone around him, and the whole home is excited to support him ahead of this amazing challenge.”

Harry’s wing walk is not just about achieving a personal dream, it is about raising hope and support for children and families facing cancer.cfff807e 6caf 47f9 9233 a83fea9b45fb
