Residents, staff and families at Braywood Gardens Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together on 26 May 2026 to celebrate Africa Day with a joyful and vibrant cultural event that highlighted African heritage through food, music, dance and traditional dress.
The home hosted a lively Africa Party, where staff proudly shared homemade authentic African dishes, wore beautiful traditional clothing and created a wonderful atmosphere of celebration for everyone to enjoy.
Lydia, Lifestyle Co-ordinator at Braywood Gardens, commented:
“We felt it really important to celebrate Africa day, the staff really enjoyed dressing in cultural clothing and cooking authentic dishes for everyone to enjoy. A fantastic day was had by all.”
The idea for the celebration came directly from staff members who wanted to share their culture and traditions with residents and families, creating an opportunity for learning, connection and appreciation.
The event was filled with fun, laughter and togetherness, with music and dancing helping to create a lively and inclusive atmosphere that was enjoyed by all.
Celebrating Africa Day is an important part of Braywood Gardens’ commitment to embracing diversity, promoting cultural understanding and creating meaningful experiences that bring people together as one community.
