Residents, families, friends, and colleagues at Highview Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together for a joyful Pride Month celebration on 5 June 2026, creating an afternoon filled with music, laughter, and togetherness.
In the days leading up to the party, residents and team members worked together to prepare a variety of treats and transform the lounge with colourful banners, flags, paintings, and bunting. Their creativity and enthusiasm helped create a welcoming and vibrant setting for the special occasion.
A highlight of the afternoon was a visit from entertainer Miss Balloonatron, whose unique performance combined singing, dancing, and balloon artistry. Her infectious energy encouraged residents to join in the fun, sing along, and take to the dance floor.
The celebrations continued throughout the afternoon, with residents, relatives, friends, and staff enjoying live entertainment and capturing special memories in the Pride-themed photobooth.
One particularly memorable moment came when Miss Balloonatron performed Queen’s classic hit Killer Queen. During the song, she created a balloon crown for one resident, who was delighted with the surprise. The touching moment brought smiles and laughter to everyone in the room and quickly became one of the day’s standout memories.
Speaking about the event, a resident’s daughter, Maureen’s daughter, said: “Thank you, it was a brilliant afternoon. Well done all of you.”
Residents also shared how much they enjoyed the celebration, with many commenting that they had a lovely time.
The Pride Party reflected Highview Lodge Care Home’s commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and respect for all. By bringing people together to celebrate acceptance and individuality, the event helped create special moments while reinforcing the home’s welcoming and supportive community spirit.
