Residents and staff at Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, in Warwickshire came together for a vibrant football-themed celebration to mark the start of the World Cup on 11 June, creating a day full of fun, laughter, and togetherness.
The home was transformed with football-themed decorations throughout the reception area and coffee shop, helping to create an exciting World Cup atmosphere. Residents enjoyed a range of activities including a World Cup quiz, football-themed music, and a friendly football game that encouraged participation and brought everyone together.
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for residents to hold and pose for photographs with a model World Cup trophy. The experience brought smiles and excitement to many residents, with some commenting that it was the first time they had experienced the excitement of a World Cup celebration in such an interactive way.
Bridie, Lifestyle Coordinator at Park View, said:
“Our recent football event to celebrate the start of the World Cup was a fantastic day enjoyed by everyone. Residents had the opportunity to take part in a fun quiz, enjoy a friendly game of football, and even hold our model World Cup trophy, which brought lots of smiles and excitement. The team really got into the spirit by dressing up, and it was wonderful to see residents engaging, laughing, and sharing in such a joyful experience together. Events like this are so important in bringing people together and creating lasting memories.”
Residents thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations, with one resident commenting:
“I had such a lovely time celebrating the World Cup! It was wonderful to see everyone joining in, and holding the trophy made it feel very special.”
The idea for the event was inspired by a desire to bring the excitement of one of the world’s most recognised sporting events into the home, giving residents the opportunity to celebrate and feel connected to the wider community. By incorporating music, activities, decorations, and interactive experiences, the team successfully recreated the atmosphere of the tournament in a meaningful and accessible way.
