Residents from Highview Lodge care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a day out on a recent minibus trip to the zoo.
The outing was chosen by the residents themselves, giving them the opportunity to visit one of their favourite destinations.
One of the highlights of the day was the bird show, where residents were thrilled to see the birds in action up close. Many also enjoyed the immersive animal exhibits, commenting that they were able to get much closer to the animals than they had ever experienced before.
A particularly magical moment took place in the butterfly house, where residents Freda and Betty were delighted when butterflies landed on them. Freda said, ‘It was lovely to have the butterflies land on my arm!’
Minibus trips like these play an important role in supporting wellbeing and ensuring residents continue to enjoy enriching activities tailored to their interests.
