Residents of Stafford Hall care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a boat trip out on the water, surrounded by nature and sunshine on the Essex waterways.
The Stafford Hall residents arrived by Minibus at Heybridge Basin in Maldon and then residents enjoyed their lunch as they took in the peaceful surroundings, watching ducks, dragonflies, paddle boarders and canoeists along the water.
Among the highlights was hearing resident of Stafford Hall, Alan, reminisce about his time serving in the Royal Navy as an Able Seaman.
Reflecting on the experience, resident Alan said: “I love being on the water. It reminds me of being in the Navy, where I was an Able Seaman, although that was a much bigger vessel than this one. At least here I don’t have to do any cleaning and painting!”
Another resident, Tess, also expressed her delight, saying: “I thoroughly loved being on the boat today, it was smashing!”
John and Roz, residents of Stafford Hall, described the outing as a wonderful experience, with John adding: “It keeps getting better and better when we come out on these trips.”
Day trips out like these are so important because they allow residents to revisit memories, share some laughter and create treasured memories.
