Residents of Redbond Lodge care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, came together for a special Knit & Natter afternoon to continue their knitting project supporting children and families in Ukraine.
The afternoon was filled with knitting, tea and cakes, as Redbond Lodge residents continued creating handmade gifts that will be sent to Ukraine in October alongside thousands of essential items collected by Felsted Aid for Deprived Children, also known as UK-Aid.
The charity supports communities in Ukraine, including an orphanage for disabled children and maternity units that it has helped to build and continues to fund. Residents have been working on handmade items to provide comfort and support to children and families who will receive them.
The Redbond Lodge group was joined by June, a long-standing supporter and organiser with UK-Aid, who visited the residents to collect the gifts they had made and share updates about the charity’s ongoing work.
June was delighted to see the Redbond Lodge residents’ latest creations and shared how thrilled she always is with the thoughtful gifts they make for the children and families in Ukraine.
The visit from June was a particular highlight, giving residents the opportunity to hear directly about how their contributions are helping and learn more about the people receiving their gifts.
For the Redbond Lodge residents, the project is a simple but meaningful way to show kindness and support to children and families in Ukraine, while bringing everyone together through friendship, creativity and a shared purpose.
