Residents at Bennett Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a refreshing day out after a special swimming trip was organised in response to a resident’s personal wish.
The trip took place on 1 April 2026 after several residents expressed during a residents’ meeting, as well as in one-to-one conversations, that they would love the opportunity to go swimming again. Wanting to make this meaningful wish a reality, the team arranged the outing to give residents the chance to return to an activity many had enjoyed earlier in life.
The atmosphere throughout the day was full of enjoyment, with residents describing the feeling of being in the water as if they were “floating.” One of the standout moments came when residents proudly showed off their swimming skills, reminding everyone just how confident and capable they were in the pool.
One resident shared: “I enjoy swimming. This was a fun event for me when I was younger.”
Experiences like this reflect Bennett Lodge’s commitment to person-centred care, ensuring residents continue to enjoy meaningful activities, revisit treasured hobbies, and create positive new memories during their time at the home.
