Bracebridge Court, part of the Runwood Homes group, came together on 5th July to celebrate Norma Johnstone’s 96th birthday with a wonderful, personalised celebration filled with happiness, laughter, and heartfelt moments.
The special occasion was created through the combined efforts of the Lifestyle, Kitchen, and Care Teams, with all staff helping to make Norma’s day memorable. Elaine Brown and Sarah Cooper from the Lifestyle Team designed and printed bespoke birthday posters and personalised placemats, while preparing a beautiful table setting with a runner and tablecloth to create a welcoming celebration space.
The Kitchen Team added a special touch by baking a delicious birthday cake, while the wider care team brought everything together by arranging the decorations, hosting the celebration, and ensuring Norma felt valued and at the heart of the occasion.
The atmosphere was warm, joyful, and full of celebration as residents, staff, and visitors came together to share smiles, laughter, and happy conversations. One of the standout moments of the day was seeing Norma’s big smile as everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to her.
At the end of the day, Norma expressed her appreciation to the team. In the evening, she thanked the team for giving her such a wonderful birthday celebration. Feeling happy, content, and truly celebrated.
Elaine and Sarah said: “At Bracebridge Court, we endeavour to mark every resident’s milestone with a personalised celebration that reflects who they are and what brings them joy. Birthdays are about much more than marking another year; they are an opportunity to recognise each resident, celebrate their life, and create meaningful moments that promote happiness, dignity, and a sense of belonging.”
Norma’s 96th birthday was a beautiful example of person-centred care in action, showing how teamwork, kindness, and thoughtful details can create lasting memories and help residents feel appreciated, respected, and at the centre of their own special celebrations.
