Residents at Caldwell Grange care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a very special musical visit when Piper McKay brought the wonderful sound of traditional Scottish bagpipes to the home.
Residents, relatives and staff gathered in the tearoom to enjoy the performance, creating a lovely afternoon filled with music.
The idea for the visit came from resident of Caldwell Grange, June’s daughter, who wanted to organise something meaningful for her mum and the other residents. June is proudly Scottish, so bringing the sound of traditional Scottish bagpipes to the home was a particularly special way to celebrate her heritage.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was seeing June’s reaction to hearing the bagpipes. The performance also brought plenty of smiles from the other residents.
One Caldwell Grange resident’s relative commented: “Such a thoughtful gesture for the residents.”
Mary, a resident of Caldwell Grange, said she would love to hear the bagpipes again at Christmas time, while Mavis shared how she used to go and listen to the bagpipes every year.
At Caldwell Grange, events like this provide a wonderful opportunity to bring joy and connection to residents while creating special memories to treasure.
