Highview Daycentre, part of the Runwood Homes Group,  is delighted to announce the arrival of two very special new members of its community, baby rabbits Bluey and Bingo.

The adoption took place on 3 February 2026, when clients and staff gathered to warmly welcome the rabbits into their new home. The atmosphere throughout the day was calm yet filled with excitement, as clients enjoyed meeting, holding, and learning about the rabbits. Their arrival sparked fond conversations about pets clients have owned in the past and created moments of connection and joy.

Dannii, Care Team Leader and Carer at Highview Daycentre, said:
“Clients absolutely loved meeting and holding the rabbits. It brought up lots of lovely conversations about pets they have had before, and you could really see how comforting the experience was for everyone.”

A few years ago, the day centre was always full of life. Cats stretched lazily in sunny corners, rabbits hopped about with twitching noses, and chickens clucked proudly in the garden. There was always something to watch, someone to feed, and the comforting presence of animals nearby, helping to make each day brighter and the centre feel like home.

Over time, the animals moved on and the centre grew quieter. While the laughter and kindness never disappeared, many felt that something was missing, a small spark that once brought extra warmth and comfort.

That spark has now returned.

Bluey and Bingo have quickly settled into life at Highview Daycentre, already bringing a sense of calm companionship to clients. Bluey is the brave explorer, always first to sniff something new, while Bingo is gentle and affectionate, happy to sit close and be cuddled.

Their presence is more than just a welcome addition. Animals have been shown to help reduce stress and anxiety, and caring for the rabbits gives service users a sense of purpose and responsibility through helping with feeding and daily care. They also encourage conversation, connection, and shared experiences among clients.

Manager Pauline, along with clients Cherry, Margaret, and Ros, all enjoyed welcoming the rabbits and spending time with them on their first day.

Sometimes, all it takes is two little rabbits to make a place feel whole. Highview Daycentre looks forward to continuing to flourish.
