Joyful Visit from Young Guest Brightens Day at Redbond Lodge

Residents of Redbond Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were treated to a heartwarming visit from a special young guest, Mya, on the 10th of January. The day was filled with laughter and joy as Mya, the granddaughter of staff member Marie, joined residents in activities that brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

The visit began as an impromptu hello but quickly turned into a delightful afternoon of games and bonding. Mya played catch with residents in the Daisy and Sweetpea lounges and even helped Joyce with a puzzle. Her youthful energy and enthusiasm were infectious, creating an atmosphere of positivity and warmth.

Karen Briggs, Lifestyle Coordinator, shared the impact of Mya’s visit: “Residents enjoy children visiting the home—it brings them so much joy and fulfilment.”

Marie, Mya’s grandmother, reflected on the visit, saying: “Mya loved interacting with the residents in Daisy and Sweetpea lounges. She spoke to the residents about going to nursery school and loved helping Joyce with the puzzle. Mya didn’t want to go home.”

One touching moment was when Joyce asked Mya if she wanted to sit on her lap, showcasing the genuine connection formed during their time together.

The visit highlights the value of intergenerational interactions, which foster joy and a sense of purpose for the residents. Karen Briggs emphasised the importance of such moments in creating a fulfilling environment at Redbond Lodge.

Mya’s visit may have been brief, but the impact on the residents was lasting. Redbond Lodge remains committed to organising activities and events that bring happiness and meaningful connections to its community.
