Laureate Court care home in Rotherham, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently hosted a heartwarming celebration in honour of Joyce’s 100th birthday. Surrounded by family, friends, and esteemed guests, including Rotherham Mayor Councillor Sheila Cowen, Joyce was the centre of attention at a celebratory party that marked this incredible milestone in her life.
The highlight of the event was Mayor Cowen presenting Joyce with a beautiful glass vase engraved with the Rotherham town council crest, symbolising the community’s admiration for Joyce and her long life. Mayor Cowen later shared her experience on social media, expressing how privileged she felt to spend time with one of the town’s most senior residents: “This afternoon it has been a real privilege and honour to visit and spend some time with one of our town’s oldest residents. Joyce is the grand age of 100 years old and has been the centre of attention at a party in her honour with everyone and entertained by one of Joyce’s own grandsons.”
Lisa Facer, Senior Home Manager at Laureate Court, expressed her delight in organising such a special event: “We couldn’t pass up this momentous occasion without making Joyce’s 100th birthday special. We arranged a fantastic party at Laureate Court for Joyce and were joined by all of her family and friends, the Rotherham mayor and even the local press came along to take some photos of this wonderful event.”
Joyce was overwhelmed with joy upon receiving a birthday card from the King and Queen Consort, enjoying a delicious cake, and being entertained by her grandson, who sang her favourite songs. The atmosphere was one of warmth and celebration, reflecting Joyce’s enduring impact on those around her.
As Laureate Court continues to cherish and support its residents, Joyce’s 100th birthday celebration serves as a poignant reminder of the community spirit and bonds that make Laureate Court a cherished place to call home. Here’s to Joyce—a century of life, love, and cherished memories.
