Residents, relatives, and team members at Maun View Care Home part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed an evening of Mediterranean culture and cuisine as the home hosted a vibrant Greek Night on Thursday 21st May 2026.

As part of Maun View Care Home’s ongoing mission to provide residents with enriching cultural experiences, and in support of the group’s monthly dignity theme, “Window to the World,” the event transformed the activity room into a beautifully decorated Greek-inspired restaurant.

A total of 21 residents and three relatives attended the special evening, where they were treated to a delicious two-course authentic Greek meal prepared by the home’s kitchen team. The menu included moussaka, feta salad, seasoned fries with tzatziki dip, followed by traditional baklava for dessert. Drinks included Greek beer shandies for the gentlemen and Greek wine spritzers for the ladies.

The evening was filled with Greek music, dancing, laughter, and celebratory toasts of “Opa!” – the traditional Greek expression of joy and togetherness.

Lucy, Wellbeing Coordinator at Maun View Care Home, said:
“It was a really lovely evening. The food was amazing and it went down a treat, and the atmosphere was very wholesome. Seeing the residents happy and having fun is what it’s all about. It makes every day worth it when you see our residents enjoying themselves and smiling.”

The event also received glowing feedback from family members. Sara, daughter of resident, who attended with her father, said:
“It was a lovely evening, great fun and the food was fantastic. It was such a special evening to share with Mum and Dad.”

Events like these are an important part of life at Maun View Care Home, helping to create meaningful experiences, encourage social connection, and bring moments of joy to residents while celebrating cultures from across the globe.
