Orchard Blythe Residents Enjoy Adapted Cycling Session

Orchard Blythe Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, residents have been celebrating the success of a recent adapted cycling experience held at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre on 11th May 2026, where participants joined the Wheels For You group for an inclusive and empowering activity on the track.

The session, organised after staff at Orchard Blythe discovered the initiative through an advertisement and made contact with the group, was designed to give residents the opportunity to experience cycling again—something many had expressed a wish to do.

Residents said the day was “absolutely fantastic” and said “We felt so free and independent” highlighting the enthusiasm and enjoyment shown throughout the event.

Residents were joined by staff and family members, creating a strong sense of community and shared enjoyment. Participants were able to ride adapted bicycles either independently or with assistance, ensuring accessibility for all abilities.

The atmosphere throughout the session was described as filled with “smiles non-stop and constant chatting,” with families enjoying meaningful time together while supporting their relatives in a new and exciting environment.

One of the standout highlights of the day was the inclusion of wheelchair users, who were able to take part in the cycling experience, creating moments and joyful reactions.

The initiative is considered highly important by Orchard Blythe, supporting residents’ wellbeing through exercise, independence, and continued engagement with the wider community.
