Residents from the Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, Ramblers Group enjoyed a special community walk with the Mayor of Witham on 29 May 2026, taking in the local park while learning more about the town’s rich history.
The visit followed the Mayor’s attendance at a recent barbecue hosted by the home, where he met residents and expressed an interest in joining them for one of their regular rambles. True to his word, he returned just days later to accompany the group on a walk around the park.
During the outing, the Mayor shared a variety of interesting facts and stories about Witham, sparking engaging conversations among residents and providing an opportunity for everyone to reflect on how the town has changed over the years.
One resident commented: “It was nice to have a chat about what’s happening in Witham.”
The atmosphere throughout the walk was described as exciting and enjoyable, with residents appreciating the opportunity to spend time outdoors while connecting with a key figure in the local community.
A particular highlight of the day was listening to residents share their memories and reminisce about how Witham used to be, creating meaningful conversations between generations and strengthening community connections.
