Residents at Parkview Care Home in Witham, part of the Runwood Homes group, have been enjoying a marvellous summer after watching one of their sunflowers grow to an incredible height.
The giant sunflower has become a much-loved feature of the Park View garden, with residents regularly heading outside to check its progress, water it and see just how much taller it has grown.
“We couldn’t believe how big this sunflower grew,” said resident Iris.
“It just keeps growing and growing!” added Dot.
One of the highlights has been seeing residents visit the sunflower each day to check on its progress. Its remarkable growth has become a wonderful talking point throughout the home and has brought plenty of smiles along the way.
Iris and Dot particularly enjoyed heading into the garden to compare their own heights with the towering sunflower, which has continued to grow taller and taller.
Activities like this are at the heart of life at Park View, bringing residents together, encouraging time spent outdoors and supporting biodiversity through the planting of bee-friendly flowers.
