Residents and staff at Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently came together for a touching initiative to help make a young girl’s birthday wish come true.
In 2022, Amelia was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and has since shown incredible bravery while undergoing multiple treatments. Sadly, the cancer has returned and Amelia is now receiving palliative care. Her wish is to break a UK record by receiving 8,000 birthday cards, helping to make her special day truly unforgettable.
On Saturday 31 January, Park View residents and staff paused their daily activities and sat together to write birthday cards for Amelia, each one filled with kind words, encouragement and love.
Residents were moved by the experience with one of the residents sharing:
“What a lovely reason to write a birthday card.”
The idea to support Amelia’s wish was inspired by a wider initiative, encouraging communities to come together for a shared cause.
The atmosphere during the activity was one of pride, unity and compassion, with the standout moment being everyone working together toward the same goal, helping to make Amelia’s wish come true.
Park View is proud to have played a small part in such a powerful act of kindness, demonstrating the strength of community and the impact of coming together for others.
