Residents and staff at Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently came together to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and community during a lively Culture Day held on 18 May 2026.
The event, which took place in the home’s café, was organised as part of the home’s team-building activities and the wider celebration of the Year of Culture. Staff and residents enjoyed a day filled with traditional foods, meaningful conversations, music, and dance performances, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.
Bridie, Lifestyle Co-ordinator at Park View said:
“We recently held a Culture Day as part of our team-building activities, and it was a fantastic experience. Staff really got involved, making it a truly inclusive and engaging event. We shared stories, had meaningful conversations, enjoyed a wide variety of delicious foods from different cultures, and even had a few dances from staff which brought great energy and fun to the day.”
The event encouraged staff and residents to share their cultural backgrounds and traditions, helping to strengthen relationships and create a more connected and inclusive environment within the home.
Bridie added:
“Events like this are so important to us as they reflect our commitment to inclusion, teamwork, and creating a positive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. I’m incredibly proud of the team for making the day such a success.”
Residents thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations, with resident commenting:
“We really enjoyed the Culture Day—it was wonderful to see everyone coming together, sharing food and traditions. The atmosphere was lovely, and the dancing was a real highlight!”
One of the standout features of the day was the impressive variety of traditional dishes prepared and shared by staff from different cultural backgrounds. The food, alongside lively dance performances and shared conversations, created an atmosphere full of joy, learning, and togetherness.
The Culture Day reflects Park View’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusion, celebrating diversity, and creating meaningful experiences for both residents and staff.
