On the 1st of February, Bennett Lodge care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, celebrated a remarkable milestone for a beloved resident—Peggy’s 100th birthday. The special day was filled with love, joy, and heartfelt moments shared by Peggy’s family, staff, and friends, coming together to make this milestone unforgettable.
Christine, Lifestyle Coordinator at Bennett Lodge, praised the team’s dedication, saying, “A whole team approach was achieved, and I could not have done it without the morning and afternoon staff, who all went above and beyond for this special occasion.” The collaboration was truly evident in every detail of the celebration.
The morning began with Peggy’s family arriving with cards, presents, and flowers, including a special birthday card from the King, which deeply touched Peggy. The family also created a beautiful atmosphere with colourful balloons donated by Sandra from Balloon Emporium, who generously donates and arranges balloons for all special occasions at the home, adding an extra touch of magic.
Chef Debbie at Bennett Lodge baked a stunning birthday cake, enjoyed by all the residents, and Peggy’s family arranged a delicious meal from East-Enders Pie & Mash, featuring her favourite dish—pie, mash, and liquor, along with a special order of jellied eels. The afternoon came alive with live entertainment from Elvis, bringing fun and excitement to the celebration.
Peggy’s son, Eddie, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We would like to thank you and all the staff for making Mum’s birthday celebrations so special—everyone was so happy for this occasion.” He gave special thanks to Christine for ensuring everything went smoothly, Jack for helping with the entertainment, and the entire team for their support.
